Analyzepoker is an independent information site about poker. We explain how the game works, from the rules of Texas Hold’em and the order of the hands to pot odds, tournament formats and the vocabulary players use at the table. Our aim is that a beginner can sit down at a home game or open a poker app and understand what is going on.
We are not a poker room or a casino. You cannot play, deposit money or collect winnings on Analyzepoker. We describe how games work; we do not take bets.
What we do
We write guides and reference pages on poker and a few related table games, including:
- the rules of Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Stud and other poker variants
- hand rankings, with the probability of each hand
- outs, pot odds and the basic maths behind decisions at the table
- strategy principles for beginners, such as position, starting hands and bankroll limits
- tournaments such as the WSOP, EPT and WPT, and how buy-ins, blinds and payouts work
- well-known players and their results
- poker apps and online poker, and what to check before using a site
- the rules of casino games that share ground with poker, such as Three Card Poker, blackjack and baccarat
Our principles
These principles guide what we publish:
- Accuracy. Rules, odds and results are checked against reliable sources before publication. Probabilities are calculated, not guessed.
- Neutrality. We do not rank or promote poker rooms or casinos, and we do not tell you where to play.
- Honesty about risk. Poker involves skill, but every hand also involves luck, and real-money play can cost more than you planned. We never present poker or casino games as a way to make money.
- Openness. We explain how our content is made, including where artificial intelligence (AI) is used.
- Updates. Results, rules and laws change. We review older pages and correct anything that is no longer right.
The editorial team
The editor and writer responsible for Analyzepoker is Owen Hartley. Owen has played and studied poker for many years, from home games to live tournaments, and has written about card games, game rules and probability for a general audience. He is responsible for what is published, for checking the facts and for making sure the content follows the principles on this page.
How we use AI
We use AI tools, including Claude from Anthropic, to help with research, structure and first drafts. No text is published as the tool produced it: the editor checks every rule, figure and claim against sources and rewrites the text before it goes live. Responsibility for the published content always lies with us. Read more in our AI policy.
Contact
Have you found a mistake, an outdated result or a rule that is explained badly? Send us a message through our contact page. We read every message and fix errors as quickly as we can. How we handle the information you send us is described in our privacy policy, and the rules for using the site are in our terms of use.
Gamble responsibly
Analyzepoker provides information only. We do not offer gambling, we do not encourage anyone to gamble and we do not give betting advice.
Playing poker or casino games for money always carries a risk of losing money and can lead to gambling harm. You must be of legal age to gamble where you live. In most countries that is 18, but some set a higher limit, and many US states require you to be 21 to play in a casino. Only play with money you can afford to lose, and set a limit on time and money before you start.
If gambling is causing problems for you or someone close to you, free and confidential help is available wherever you live. Gambling Therapy offers free online support worldwide, and our responsible gambling page lists helplines in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and other countries.
